For over a year, the medienhaus/team has been developing a CMS implantation, which is already being used in practice and iteratively expanded within the framework of the emergency digitisation of the Berlin University of the Arts.
The talk at the Matrix Summit will look at the history of the project, the prospect of a federatable network at the content level and the current technical [matrix]-specific challenges.

Seit über einem Jahr arbeitet das medienhaus/ Team an einer CMS Implementierung, welche im Rahmen der Notfalldigitalisierung der Universität der Künste Berlin bereits in der Praxis benutzt sowie iterativ erweitert wird.
Im Rahmen des Talks auf dem Matrix Summit sollen die Historie des Projektes, eine Aussicht auf ein föderierbares Netzwerk auf Inhaltsebene, sowie die aktuellen, technischen [matrix]-spezifischen Herausforderungen beleuchtet werden.

The [matrix] protocol provides a variety of basic functionalities that can be used in addition to the actual messenger functionality in order to promote the (re-)decentralisation of the World Wide Web.
One possible application scenario is federatable content management systems, whereby content can be combined away from its physical location at the level of user accounts.
In addition to a CMS interface (written in Javascript; React) with the specific orientation of structuring and creating data for users within their accounts, a prototypical caching API was developed as well as various front-facing websites, all of which rely on data stored in the [matrix].
In addition to the technical-theoretical basis, the project will also present empirical values from real-world applications, including the digital annual exhibitions of the Berlin University of the Arts with several thousand visitors.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the medienhaus/team has been conducting research on the implementation of decentralised, self-hosted infrastructures within the framework of universities, similar public institutions and activist groups and is developing free and open source software based on the [matrix] protocol.

Das [matrix]–Protokoll stellt eine Vielzahl an Grundfunktionalitäten bereit, welche neben der eigentlichen Messengerfunktionalität genutzt werden können, um eine (Re-)Dezentralisierung des World Wide Web wieder voranzutreiben.
Ein mögliches Anwendungsszenario stellen föderierbare Content-Management-Systeme dar, wodurch Inhalte abseits ihres physischen Standorts auf Ebene von Nutzer*innenaccounts miteinander kombiniert werden können.
Neben einem CMS-Interface (JavaScript; React) mit der spezifischen Ausrichtung zur Strukturierung und Erstellung von Daten innerhalb der Accounts von Nutzer*innen, wurde auch eine prototypische Caching-API entwickelt, sowie diverse front-facing Websites, welche alle auf eine [matrix]-basierte Datenhaltung zurückgreifen.
Dargestellt werden sollen neben der technisch-theoretischen Grundlage etwaige Erfahrungswerte aus Realwelt-Anwendungen, worunter auch die digitalen Jahresausstellungen der Universität der Künste Berlin mit einigen tausend Besucher*innen fallen.
Das medienhaus/ Team beschäftigt sich seit Pandemiebeginn mit der Implementierung von dezentralisierten, self-hosted Infrastrukturen im Rahmen von Hochschulen, ähnlichen öffentlichen Institutionen und aktivistischen Gruppierungen und entwickelt basierend auf dem [matrix]-Protokoll Free & Open-Source Software.
